Ridgewood PD: Four Seized After 'Concerning' Note From HS Trespasser

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- One of two trespassers ejected from Ridgewood High School on Tuesday sent a "concerning" social media message to a student there, said police who took him and three companions into custody a short time later.

There was no genuine threat to the public, Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke said.

Two juveniles were "asked to leave" Ridgewood High School around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday "after it was found out they were not students at the school," Luthcke said.

It was unclear how they got into the school and how far they got before being removed.

"Soon after leaving the school, one of the juveniles sent a private social media message to another student at RHS," the chief said.

"The student who received the message felt it was concerning and brought that concern up to the school administrators, who contacted the police department," she said.

Uniformed officers a short time later seized both teens, who were with two adults, outside Temple Israel on 475 Grove Street. All four were handcuffed and taken to police headquarters.

One of the juveniles was carrying marijuana, Luthcke said.

An investigation was continuing, she said.
